Trainee recruitment consultant

We are currently expanding our specialist engineering recruitment consultancy and we are looking to recruit a trainee to join our busy team in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

We are offering a trainee position with a structured induction and training programme that will develop your skills in all support and front line functions before you take up the baton yourself. The role has been specifically designed to help you build  your skills and develop a rewarding career and you will be joining a company that has been recruiting in the specialist HVAC sector for over 15 years.

The role

As a recruitment consultant at Thornhvac you will be involved in the whole recruitment cycle, from building the relationship with the client company, gaining the vacancy to attracting and assessing the applicants and filling the position.

You will deal with the leading companies and the best candidates in our sector, using our database system to identify candidates as well as advertise and market vacancies using a variety of media as required.

You will not be expected to operate within the framework of a traditional recruitment agency where key performance indicators and individual targets get in the way of meeting client needs. Instead, you will be expected to focus on providing clients with excellent service and high quality candidates.

You will deal with manufacturers, distributors and contractors, mainly in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning sectors (HVAC) to match high quality candidates to their vacancies for sales, management and technical staff.

We have developed a 12 day modular programme that takes you through all aspects of recruitment with Thornhvac. People often have a preferred way of learning so the programme is flexible enough to adjust to the way you learn best and at the pace you learn best.

Each module is designed to give you an understanding of each aspect of your role and why you need to know it as well as practise in role play and finally in the real world.  Normally, you will be undertaking the training programme with another so you learn from each-other and give each-other confidence.

Once through your basic training you will join in our weekly team meeting where we review how we are doing and what can be improved. You will also discover our management style which is to trust you and manage by results rather than trying to control every activity in your day.

You will have:

  • Successful outbound/proactive sales experience.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • A minimum 'C' at GCSE English and Maths.
  • A qualification in either: A Levels, NVQ, BTEC, International Baccalaureate.
  • Good computer keyboard skills and familiarity with Microsoft office or similar.

East Leeds.The office location is a modern business centre office, 2 minutes from junction 46 on the M1 next to Thorpe Park. Crossgates railways station is 2 miles away and Leeds city centre is a 15 minute bus ride.
