HVAC project engineers are currently in high demand and we have a number of roles for candidates with technical engineering experience and CAD skills.

Design and project engineers have an important role to play from the moment an order is placed through to the delivery of the HVAC units. CAD draughting is often part of the job but in some cases candidates will only be required to have a familiarity with CAD design processes, particularly if there is an internal CAD team within the company.

One current job opportunity we have with a ventilation company in the South of England will involve drawing sheet metal work and CAD draughting as well as communication with clients and internal sales teams to manage the specification and design process.

Another current ventilation vacancy involves liaising with the customer or consultant to produce detailed tender packages and communicating information to the internal CAD team so that a full working design can be developed.

Project management experience is a real benefit when applying for design and project engineer jobs. There is likely to be a good deal of negotiation at all stages of the projects and this could involve communicating with suppliers, manufacturers, consultants, customers and internal departments.

Every role is slightly different, depending on the HVAC sector involved and the type of employer. Technical knowledge, qualifications related to building services, design skills and experience of estimating are all valuable attributes that are likely to be relevant.

Some roles have a stronger emphasis on design. We currently have a vacancy in the Midlands for an experienced M&E CAD technician, for example, and this role calls for knowledge of specific design software and experience of applying it in an HVAC setting.

Each job puts greater emphasis on some of the above qualities than others and, if you’re looking to develop your career as a design engineer or project engineer, your first step should be to call us and discuss your experience. This will help us to match you to a vacancy that will suit your experience so far and allow you to develop your career in the direction you would like to progress.
